STOP PRESS: 28 June: Fire and Rain wins the Britannia Building Society English Summer National Handicap Chase at Utoxeter at 7/1 with Noel Fehily on board ...

Welcome to the website of Emma Lavelle Racing.  I very much hope that you will enjoy from the site an insight into the workings of the yard, the staff that enable it to run so smoothly and the horses that I have the pleasure of training.

I started training from Cottage Stables in 1998 having set my heart on training horses since the age of 11. It was either that or an aspiration of becoming Prime Minister and to this day I am still not sure which is the easier option! My introduction to racing was through my father owning horses with Toby Balding. Having spent a couple of school holidays with Henrietta Knight I then started working for Toby Balding myself as a racing secretary. From there I went to work for the National Trainer’s Federation which, at that time, was based in London. It was a very useful insight into the administrative side of racing and something that has proved invaluable. I then went back to Toby Balding as his pupil assistant and then assistant for just over 51/2 years. It is a place that a great many people in racing have at one time or another been involved with and have all learnt a great deal.

My last stop on the road to gaining my license was a season in Belmont, New York working for Claude McGaughey III, which was fascinating.
